How to –
ORIGAMI HEART CARD

IMG_2501

First you will want to fold your piece of paper(11″ X 4″) in half as a guide and create fold 3/4″ along the long edges and 1 3/4″ along the short edges. ( If using coloured paper make sure the design is face down during this)

IMG_2502

Fold up the bottom corners and keep them along the 1 3/4″ line.

IMG_2503

Fold in the 1 3/4″ sides along the already made crease.

IMG_2504

Turn paper over and fold your top crease towards you.

IMG_2505

Flatten out the corners like this. ^

IMG_2507

Fold in the square corner to make another triangle.

IMG_2509

Repeat on the other side.

IMG_2510

Measure in 1″ from the short sides and make a crease.

IMG_2512

Fold along this crease bring the now heart shape from the back with it.

IMG_2513

Repeat on the other side.

IMG_2514

Turn paper back over. Fold down the very top of your hearts.
Now fold up the bottom a little higher then your crease.

IMG_2517

Flatten out corners, this fold may take a few tries to get right because you want those bottom pieces to be triangles, no overhanging edges.

IMG_2518

Fold heart edges towards you again.

IMG_2520

Your folding is done.
When you pull out the edges of the heart there is space to write a lovely message.

IMG_2522

If you have done it with a blank piece of paper like I have you can colour it in or decorate it however you like.

IMG_2524

I also make a small version and tied them together with a pretty ribbon.

I hope you guys have enjoyed my Valentines Day special and may recreate this card for you loved one.
It is nice and easy, home made and full of love.

Gluten Free Dairy Free Egg Free
Pull Apart dinner rolls

So this will be my first year baking gluten free for Christmas and I thought I would try and make bread rolls and have decided to practise a few times to get it better before christmas. Between myself, my sister and my mother we need to cut out gluten, dairy and egg. So here is what happened on my first two attempts.

My first attempt

IMG_4593

The Ingredients.

IMG_4594

Dry Ingredients in a bowl

IMG_4595

Dry ingredients mixed

IMG_4596

Wet ingredients mixed in

IMG_4597

What they looked like before raising.

IMG_4598

IMG_4599

What they look like after raising  (they did not raise alot so I changed the way I put the yeast in with the next batch)

IMG_4600

During Coooking

IMG_4601

The Race day lunch I was cooking them for with my mum

IMG_4602

End result of the first batch with butter.
They were quite doughy the first lot, but for someone who has not eaten bread rolls in a long time. I still thoroughly enjoyed them.

Second batch
So what I did differently between the first and second was I mixed the yeast with the warm water first. And actually used an electric mixer instead of hand kneading.

IMG_4656

How they looked after raising. Please keep in mind that these rolls are very sticky which makes them hard to shape!

IMG_4658

The finished product of the second batch.

They were alot fluffier and maybe a bit tastier.
They were all gone within 24hrs.

This is the recipe that I have been using.
With normal gluten free flour.
Nuttelex instead of butter.
And egg replacer.

Origami Bow – How to Guide
as requested by Meredith

IMG_2256

IMG_2257

1. Get a piece of origami paper. (does not matter if it is plain on one side)

IMG_2258

2. Fold in half diagonally to form a triangle.

IMG_2259

3. Open up flat

IMG_2260

4. Fold diagonally to the opposite corner.

IMG_2261

5. Open flat.

IMG_2262

6. Fold in half to create a rectangle.

IMG_2263

7. Open flat again.

IMG_2264

8. Fold in half the other way.

IMG_2265

9. Open flat to see you 4 creases. You want to have your printed side facing you at this point. (I have done the first half the wrong way and correct it at step 23)

IMG_2266

10. Take a point and bring it in towards the centre. Find the two creases on both sides and bring them together on the outside of this point.

IMG_2267

11. Bring the point down to the bottom fold and fold the crease that comes to the point backwards.IMG_2270

12. Bring the right point down to the bottom point in the same way to create a square.

IMG_2271

IMG_2272

13. Fold top point of the square down approx 1cm.

IMG_2273

14. Use to fold at the point to create a square, keeping the rest of the paper in the same formation. (You can open it up flat and fold all the edges of the square and then move it back into shape)

IMG_2274IMG_2275

16. Invert the square so that it collapses inside itself, still keeping the shape of the rest of the paper. Make sure the side stay in.

IMG_2276

17. It should look like this when sitting flat.

IMG_2277

18. From the centre of the flat top fold the corner in to the center line to create a flap like this.

IMG_2278

19. Repeat this fold on the other side.

IMG_2279

20. Flip to other side and continue to fold in the same way.

IMG_2280

21. Fold in the last side.

IMG_2281

22. You now need to open it up from the inside keeping all your folds that you just did intact. The easiest way to do this is pull to two points out and push the centre from underneath.

IMG_2283

23. It should look like this when flat.

IMG_2284

This is not a step but I only realised halfway through that I had used the wrong side

IMG_2285

24. Flip the paper over and cut along the lines shown.

IMG_2286

25. Fold one cut side up.

IMG_2287

26. Take bottom point from side and bring it to the centre line of the square, fold edge along this line.

IMG_2288

27. Repeat on the other side.

IMG_2289

28. Flip cut sections down and fold the other sides.

IMG_2290

29. It should look like this.

IMG_2291

30. Cut down the centre of the already cut sections.

IMG_2292

31. This is the result to expect

IMG_2293

32. From the outside point fold in 1/2 cm.

IMG_2294

33. From the bottom point fold in 1/2 cm aswell.

IMG_2295

34. Do the outside point from the other side.

IMG_2296

35. Fold the inside point of the other side.

IMG_2297

36. Flip over and bring in one of the top outside point.

IMG_2298

37. Tuck point into the square.

IMG_2299

38. Fold in the other point the same way. And you are done.

You have the option to cut the bottom of the ribbon into one or two points but personally I like it like this.
I hope you like this little bow. I love it.
It’s super kawaii!

And yes I know traditional origami does not include cutting but this was the best bow that I could find for what I am making them for.

What is your favourite origami to make?

Origami Santa – How to guide
as requested by Meredith 🙂

Santa’s Head
IMG_4621

1. Get a standard size origami paper, red on one side, plain on the other.
IMG_4622

2. Fold one edge in 1/2cm

IMG_4623

3. Fold joining side 1/2 cm.

IMG_4624

4. Fold um corner where the folded sides meet 1-1.5cm and fold opposite corner 1/2 cm in.

IMG_4625

5. Fold joining corner back 2mm from edge.

IMG_4626

6. Turn over your piece of paper

IMG_4627

7. Fold left corner 3/4 of the way across the paper on an angle making sure that you can see some of the white on the top point.

IMG_4628

8. Fold right side along the crease that you created by folding the left side.

IMG_4629

9. Fold point down on an angle to the left so that it sits just above the folded white strip.
Your Santa’s head is now done and you can draw a face or beard on it.

Santa’s body
( I apologise about the creases already but I had folded all my red paper prior to be asked to do a tutorial)
IMG_4630

1. Fold 1/2 cm on opposite edges

IMG_4631

2. Fold Paper in half for the crease.

IMG_4632

3. Open paper white side up and fold sides into the center.

IMG_4633

4. Fold out top corner from 2/3 on the way down the center.
(You can fold the paper in half down the center to get an idea of when you fold out from)

IMG_4634

5. Fold out other side. (Try to get as even as possible, but it does not matter if you are slightly off)

IMG_4635

6. Crease 1/3 of the way down across the center.

IMG_4636

7. Fold the top down along this crease to finish the body.

IMG_4637

Finally put your head on top of the body and you have your cute little
Origami Santa 🙂

I will be doing a how to for my ribbons also at the request of Meredith.

Hope your all getting into the Christmas Spirit! 🙂

I don’t know about you guys but I’m freaking out that Christmas is just around the corner!

And if your family is anything like mine, we are already preparing for the festive season. Which is proving to be a little tricking while working on my online shop, studying, cooking, watching anime and trying to maintain a social life.

Origami Bows

Origami Bows

Every year recently I have been making Christmas cards and sending them out to all of my friends because I like giving that personal touch and it becomes way to expensive trying to but gifts for all your friends at this time of the year. and lets face it no one saves for Christmas so we all tend to struggle a little bit with cash when all the present buying comes around.

Origami Santa

Origami Santa

This year on the front of my Christmas cards I am putting origami Santa’s that I have made. I was inspired to do these when last year my partner’s mum put one our Christmas card in response to the one that I sent last year (I did 3D stamped cards last year).

christmas decorations

Christmas decorations

Ok this is not my obsession. It is my mother’s! She goes crazy on Christmas decorations and lights all over and throughout the house and this is what she bought in one day alone!
I thought we already had enough stored up in the roof.
But apparently I was wrong. Haha.

Soon I will be posting about the Christmas cake that I am currently baking in the oven. and my attempts at GF, DF & EF dinner rolls that I already trialing and hoping to have perfect by Christmas so that my sister, my mother and myself don’t miss out on bread rolls.

I hope that you all are getting excited for the festive season.
And I will be doing my best to post as soon as possible again with my Christmas cake and updates on my dinner rolls.

Chewy Peanut Butter Choc Chip Biscuits and they’re gluten free!

Tags

I have had this recipe for quite a while now,
but have never actually attempted to make them, I have adapted this recipe to be gluten free.
IMG_4043

The cookie dough looks as yummy as any other cookie dough that I have ever made, you know when you just want to stick your finger in and eat half of it raw.
You know what i’m talking about, we have all done it at some point.

IMG_4045

Ready to go in to the oven!
I think I needed to have a little more flour in these since changing it to gluten free, because normally at this point you can roll them in your hand to make a ball.

IMG_4046

Looking good in the oven!

IMG_4054

The finished result was a little bit flatter then I expected but were still quite soft and tasted like a Reece’s peanut butter cup, but in a cookie!

I could not get enough of these yummy biscuits!

Juicing

Tags

Today in Australia it feels like summer and its just the last day of winter!

So to make it feel ever more like summer I have decided to make a lovely healthy juice!

20130830-144535.jpg

What I decided to use:
Carrots, celery, orange, apple and beetroot

This is a copy of the ‘two and five’ juice that I purchase from boost juice here.
It’s always good to have more vegetables then fruit in a juice, because as much as we all love the tastes of fruits better because they are sweeter, it’s the same thing that makes it unhealthier.
Fructose is the sugar from fruit, and we all love sugar! But we also know that we should only have it in moderation, hence why more vegetables are better, and think of all the awesome nutrients that you can get from extra servings of veggies per day!

20130830-145054.jpg

This is how my juice turned out
Obviously quite red from the beetroot, but the taste isn’t overpowering.
I found when I first started drinking this juice I didn’t like the taste but eventually I became to love it and last summer had it every day!

If you want it a little bit sweeter put it into a blender after juicing with a bunch of strawberries, it will brighten up the flavour a bit. A little bit of ginger is also nice with the strawberries, but only a tiny amount so it’s not overpowering!

My lesson from today is I think I need a new juicer! Mine makes quite a mess but we did only buy it from Kmart.
I’ve been thinking about investing in a slow juicer and hopefully they aren’t as messy, but they are quite dear and I would need to save a little bit for one!

What do you think of my juice recipe?
What’s your favorite juice recipe?

Please leave me a comment and let me know!

Gluten free baking!

Tags

Hey everyone, how are you?
Im sorry that it has been a while since I have posted on here.
I have been sooo incredibly busy, but have managed to do a bit of gluten free baking.

These are gluten free waffles I made with strawberries, ice cream and chocolate.
They were better then the sort I would get from Max Brenner.

010

Gluten free Chocolate chip cookies
These were absolutely delicious!
But they did go a little bit crunchy on the second day, not that many lasted until then.

056

Gluten & Dairy free Cupcakes!

So my best friend has been really sick over the last 3 months and found out 2 months ago that he is also a coeliac, so I thought I would make him some gluten free cupcakes to make him feel a little better. 🙂
Again they were a tiny bit dry, spongy and tasteless but most cupcakes are, all the yummy flavours are in the icing.

096

Gluten free scones!
another treat I have been missing since becoming gluten free
These are amazing warm and up to 8hrs after being baked, but I think I need to make them thicker because they don’t rise as much as normal ones.
The next day they were solid enough to throw at someone and possibly hurt them

149

Gluten Free Brownies
I still need to master these babies.
I have made them too raw, too hard.
These ones were some of the best so far, again they do need to be made thicker or the cook too fast and dry out to quickly.
A little bit gooey in the centre but still delicious! They went within 2hrs.

239

What gluten free goodies have you tried to bake?

And what would you like me to try and bake gluten free?
I would love for any ideas or suggestions!

fluffy puppy!
Um OHMYGOSH!
Can a puppy be fluffier then this cute little guy!
From what I can tell its a pomeranian with a hair cut to make it look super fluffy and cuddly!

Cutest-little-white-fluffy-puppy

All that I want to do is grab them and squeeze them!
They are just to die for I have never seen a cuter and fluffier puppy!
No doubt they would not be great for people with allergies, but thankfully that would not be a problem for me.

tumblr_lv178kZJQ01r6l69so1_500
Who resist the big googley eyes of this guy?

cute-fluffy-puppy
You want to nibble my fingers?
That’s ok with me, I would let this puppy get away with anything, it looks like a baby racoon!
cute-puppy-l1
Would you like tea or puppy? I think I would choose this puppy over a cup of tea any day.
puffypup_original
This of course is Boo, he is ‘the worlds cutest dog’ he has his own blogs and books, he definately has a extra fluffy puppy hair cut.

Out of all of them I do like the first one the most it’s just so white and fluffy and cute and I want to squish it all over the place!

What do you think are the cutest puppies out there?

Anime that I love

Tags

So today I thought that I would write about some of my favourite animes!

Code geass
1. Code Geass

I first started watching Code Geass because one of my friends lent it to me who knew I liked anime, I instantly fell in love with it. The whole idea behind ‘The Britanian Empire’ taking over other countries including Japan and then alienating the Japanese and changing the name of their county to ‘Area 11’.
It is such a far fetched idea of taking over an entire country and bringing it down to the ground and everyone accepts what has happened, except for the 11’s but then they get looked down upon even though it was the Britanian’s that did a horrible thing.

Personally my favourite characters is C2, she is powerful confident, knows what she wants and won’t let anyone get in the way of that although occasionally they do let you in to see this vulnerable side of her that is linked with her past.

Attractive, smooth talking, smart and able to get himself in and out of any situation? Of course i’m talking about Lelouch, even though he can be a very self centred egotist who can’t help but love his character, he is fighting for a cause that isn’t his own because he has turned against his own family and heritage since they killed his mother and made his little sister blind.

All up it is one of my favourite anime’s and I can’t wait for season 3 to finally be released!

shakugan no shana
2. Shakugan No Shana
Talk about powerful young women! Shana has got her stuff sorted! I love watching her battle all the bad guys from the parallel universe who are trying to manipulate the powere of existane in their world, which is mostly what the entire series is about with the addition of discovering that Yuji is a Mystes and has a treasure tool that they are going to use for a greater good.
I have not finished watching the second season due to last of time and trying to watch anime’s that over friends have lent me, but I am extremely excited to watch more!

fate stay night
3. Fate/Stay Night
Ok I get it, I like powerful female characters and fighting!
But only the kind of fighting that is for good!
This starts as a typical battle for the trophy, the holy grail in this case, anime, which the exception of Shiro who doesn’t know what he is in the middle of and does not want to fight.
After being forced to fight and kill other servants he decides to join the war for the greater good. Shiro has decided that he is going to end the war once and for all once he wins the grail. With Saber by his side he can and will do anything.

There is a second series which I have not seen yet, so all my references are based on the first series.

angel beats
4
. Angel Beats
This anime confuses the crap out of me, they are resisting death by staying in limbo world, because they are too afraid of dying even though they are technically dead already?
But this anime is incredibly fun to watch and once again another leading woman role.
This Anime has my favourite theme song to the point that I have downloaded it and have it on my iphone. 🙂

Spice & wolf
5. Spice and Wolf
This is an incredible anime, so much smarts and tact used to get money and manage to eat, get stock and go from town to town.

The whole story is based around Kraft Lawrence, a travelling merchant, and Holo, a fox spirit that thanks to Lawrence is able to leave the field that she was bound to and travel across the country to get back to where she is from.

Watching their relationship bloom from nothing to what I can only refer to as love for each over is a great and enjoyable journey.

eden-of-the-east
6. Eden of the East
I have not watched this in such a long time, but when I do watch it, I watch it in one day easily because there is only one season to it.

In this series 12 people known as “Seleção” are selection to be a part of a “game” in this game, they are given special phones loaded with ¥10 Billion and are told to use the money in whatever way they want, but the aim of the game is so “Save Japan”, they are also given access to a computer program called “Juiz” which they can ask to do anything and it will get accomplished for a certain fee.

Saki runs into Akira in the first episode in this series and he helps her out of trouble, but during the series she becomes helpful because of a phone app that her and her friends created that  by taking a picture of something it can then give you detail of the item or person, alternately you can upload a picture and ask for information on it. A really cool concept.

This is such a smart series and I am sad that there is just one series, it is so brilliant and definately high in my favourites.

The sort of anime’s that I like have to have a decent story line, not be too slow or I will get bored and turn it off and never really go back to it, I like when the characters and smart and use alot of planning and smarts to get what they are after.

So now tell me, what are your favourite anime’s?
What do you think that I should watch next?
